凭祥电视台1994年5月25日， 自治区广播电视厅关于凭祥市建立电视台提出意见呈报广播电影电视部:凭祥市位于中越边境，是通往越南及东南亚国家的重要口岸城市，全市面积650平方公里，人口10万人，管辖4镇，全部与越南接壤，国务院于1992年6月批准凭祥市为边境对外开放城市， 该市转播中央和广西电视台的节目已覆盖全市人口的80%。同年6月4口，广播电影电视部社会司、科技司批复同意凭祥市建立电视台，呼号为“凭祥电视台”；该台必须完整转播中央和自治区电视台第一套节目，可举办新闻、专题、知识性和服务性节目，但：不得自办文艺节目，用3频道播出，发射机功率10千瓦，铁塔高度50米。 凭祥电视台于1995年9月18日开播， 平均每周播出节目时间42小时，其中转播中央和广西电视台节目3小时，占7.14%；自办节目时间39小时，占92.86%；自办节目有《南疆新闻》、《红绿蓝的祝福》、《边陲广角》等。
