成立于1989年11月，隶属于红河新闻传媒集团。目前办公地点位于原州政府所在地世界著名的锡都--个旧市中山路61号，待红河州新闻中心大楼建成后，也将迁往蒙自。红河电视台现有从业人员140人，开办两套节目，即新闻综合频道和经济生活频道。
新闻综合频道全天播出时间20小时；经济生活频道全天播出时间为17小时。两个频道的节目已通过光纤网络覆盖全州13个县市，节目形式多样、内容丰富。拥有《红河新闻》、《新闻零距离》、《新闻透视》、《法律与生活》、《红河警方》、《为党旗增辉》、《党风廉政》、《你给认得》、《这里是红河》、《红河大视野》等十余个自办栏目。十余年来，红河电视台始终坚持团结、稳定、鼓劲和正面宣传为主，坚持正确的舆论导向，弘扬主旋律，提倡多样化，紧紧围绕州委、州政府的中心工作，全方位、多角度，大力宣传自治州经济、政治、文化和社会事业各方面取得的成绩，为进一步凝聚全州各族人民的智慧和力量，推动红河新发展，夺取全面建设红河小康社会的新胜利发挥了重要的作用。
