荆门电视台筹建于1984年，1989年6月正式成立。2001年——2002年，经国家广播电影电视总局同意。率先在全国全省将有线电视台、教育台兼并合一，组建为新的荆门电视台。作为集电视、报纸、网站、CMMB等，多种现代传播手段为一体的强势主流媒体。荆门电视台坚持以“新闻立台，人才强台，经济稳台，创新活台”为发展理念。多年来立志于打造，湖北中部区域性中心媒体。节目生产、技术水平和事业建设，在省内同级台中始终处于第一方阵。
荆门电视台拥有新闻频道、新农村频道、公共频道、鄂中经视频道和省运频道等播出平台。具有无线发射和有线传输两种传播手段，无线发射形成了“一个中心五个发射点”的转播格局。即中心城区发射台和京山曹武、虎爪山林场、钟祥胡集、沙洋后港、屈家岭5个转播点。有效覆盖湖北中部的鄂中地区，和江汉平原地区的20多个县市区2000多万受众。 本文来自Nettv.live
